St. Valentine’s Day is a February 14 holiday celebrated by many┬á people throughout the world. It is a traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other by sending cards, presenting flowers, offering chocolate and popping champagne.
On the 14th February 2009 all roads lead to the Millennium Jazz Restaurant,┬á the country’s premier jazz venue, in the suburb of Mogoditshane.┬á
“This will be the 2nd year running on which the Millennium will be celebrating Valentine’s Day with a difference,” says Zenzele Hirschfeld, a prominent female entertainment promoter who will be coordinating the event.┬á
Hirschfeld adds that the beauty pageant, “Miss Millennium Valentine 2009”, will be targeting ladies between 35 and 55 years and since most of them are individuals with very strong family ties, the theme of the event will be “Building a beautiful family through inner beauty;┬á a celebration of good family values”.┬á
Last year’s event, which was hugely successful, was won by 41-year-old┬á Felicity Bogatsu, who has been a very visible brand ambassador for the Millennium Jazz Restaurant. She is expected to be the official hostess on the night of the event and will also end her reign by crowning the in-coming queen, as is the norm.
During question time to test the aptitude of  contestants, the questions will be centered mainly on knowledge of jazz music and related topics. The contestants will win various prizes donated by several sponsors, including the Millennium Jazz Restaurant, Grand Palm Hotel,  Kgalagadi Music World, as well as Primi Piatti Restaurant.
According to the organizers, on the night of the event the restaurant will serve “Romantic Dinner under the Tree” ÔÇô a reference to the imposing morula tree which provides a majestic umbrella at the centre of the restaurant courtyard.┬á Popular Millennium resident DJ, Steven “Vavo” Mohamadi, will be on hand to serenade couples with smooth romantic ballads.
“A panel of judges will comprise individuals of high integrity and premium and this includes a prominent politician, a well known radio presenter, a respected entertainment journalist, an award winning fashion designer as well a best selling jazz artist,” said Hirschfeld.
