Moatlhaping still leads the pack

Mochudi Centre Chiefs top marksman, Moemedi ‘Jomo’ Moatlhaping, is still the leading goal scorer for the be-MOBILE Premier League with 18 goals. Despite failing to find the back of the net in their last match against struggling Francistown based side, Tasc, over the weekend, Moatlhaping is still sitting pretty at the top as no one has really come very close to him.

He is three goals ahead of near rival, Tendai Ndoro of Nico United.

On third place is Ecco City Green striker, Malepa Bolelang, with 13 goals followed by Rollers speedy winger, Joel Mogorosi.

On the other hand, another Rollers winger, Sekhana Koko, has so far netted nine goals after scoring five goals in the last two matches.

Koko has had a niggling injury and announced his comeback last weekend in Francistown against Tasc where Rollers won 5-0.

This past weekend when Rollers won 3-0 against Police XI, Koko was on target again scoring the first goal. With the league reaching its climax stage, Moatlhaping has to really pull up his socks if he is to finish at the top. He has had a rough patch for the past three seasons where he struggled with form and missed relatively easy chances.

He now seems to be enjoying himself under new coach, Rahman Gumbo. Moatlhaping has so far re-claimed his position in the national team which he lost after losing his form.

The former Township Rollers striker, once even earned himself a professional contract at South African Premier League side, Platinum Stars, where he performed well upon arriving. He came home before the end of his contract and it is not yet clear why.

When he left for Platinum Stars he went with fellow countryman, Phenyo Mongala who is now on the books of Orlando Pirates.
