The Secretary General of the National Amalgamated Local, Central Government and Parastatal Unions, Johnson Motshwarakgole, is fuming that the government is taking long in paying all the 400 of their former members their early exit benefits.
He said that they keep receiving reports from their former members that they are still to be paid all their benefits after the process started in May.
“This is really very cruel to have such big organisations such as the Councils and Government herself failing to pay people their dues for such a long time; maybe it shows that they do not care about their plight,” he lamented.
Asked what they are doing to address the situation, Motshwarakgole said that they have arranged a meeting to address the problem and that the meeting will be held sometime this month.
Those who have been retired on early exit include those who were working for different Councils in the Department of Water, as well as those in the Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources around the country.
This followed after the government’s resolution to place water distribution task under the Water Utilities Corporation a few years ago.
