The controversial sale of Mupane Gold Mine to locally-owned Hawks Mining in 2022 may have been nothing short of a heist, a statutory manager’s report suggests raising serious questions about the transaction and its aftermath.
In a new report to creditors and presented before Masters of the High Court Silibaliso Daramola , liquidator Kopanang Thekiso outlined a number of irregularities surrounding the mine’s sale by former Canadian owner Galane Gold Ltd warning that the deal could be tainted by asset stripping, financial manipulation and possible breaches of fiduciary duty.
