Botswana’s newly opened route for Ngamiland beef to Angola faces fresh uncertainty after Namibia detected foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in the Kharas region, raising concerns over livestock and meat-product controls along the transit corridor.
Namibian authorities confirmed 10 cattle tested positive following routine surveillance in the Karasburg State Veterinary District. The outbreak is significant because it was detected within Namibia’s WOAH-recognised FMD-free zone.
