Effective 20 April 2026, Ms. Natasha Rampa joins the Ministry of Youth and Gender Affairs as Permanent Secretary, bringing with her a career defined by purpose and distinction. A Yale and Princeton graduate fluent in French, Portuguese and Spanish, she entered public service in 2008 at the Ministry of International Relations, where she served across the Departments of Protocol and Consular Services and Europe and the Americas, and was part of the pioneer team that established Botswana’s diplomatic mission in Mozambique in 2012.
From 2019 to 2026, she led the Governance portfolio at the United Nations Development Programme, overseeing two major projects under the Botswana-UN cooperation framework focused on human rights, access to justice, and the empowerment of women and youth.
What sets Ms. Rampa apart is not simply the breadth of her experience, but the coherence of it. Every chapter of her career has pointed toward the same conviction: that governance, at its best, is a tool for human dignity. Her work at UNDP in particular demonstrated a rare ability to move between global policy frameworks and on-the-ground realities, translating complex mandates into tangible outcomes for ordinary Batswana.
She arrives at MYGA at a consequential moment, and she arrives prepared. The Ministry’s twin mandates of youth empowerment and gender justice demand both technical competence and genuine commitment. Ms. Rampa brings both in full measure.
