No takers for sexual harassment policy for sport in Botswana

National Sports Associations (NSAs) are reluctant to adopt, adapt and sign the Sexual Harassment and Gender Based Violence Policy for sport in Botswana.

This was revealed during the Women in Sports Conference held recently at Botswana University Conference Center. The policy was established in 2020. It was formulated though a collaboration between Women and Sports Botswana (WASBO) and Botswana National Sports Commission (BNSC) with the NSAs making an input.

It was formulated to put in place guidelines for safeguarding athletes. The sexual harassment policy is a document that prohibits sexual harassment and how it can be prevented. It also defines and describes prohibited sexual behaviours in sport and it also contains information on how to report any violation done.
