Gaborone lawyer  Ofentse  Khumomotse says that  he wants  Mogoditshane Police  to arrest and charge  Member of  Parliament for  Letlhakeng  West  Ngaka  Ngaka for  allegedly threatening to kill  his wife Boingotlo Ngaka last month.
Khumomotse said his client reported the matter to Mogoditshane Police Station soon after he was threatened by her husband but police did not take any action as should have happened in such a case.
“I am very surprised that the man was not arrested as should have happened soon after a report was made to them. Instead and very worrying they have since charged both my client and her husband with common nuisance. When has reporting a threat to kill case become common nuisance?” asked Khumomotse.
He says he is planning to write a letter to the Commissioner of Police as he feels this is a very serious issue. “ Threat to kill in this country is a very serious offence┬á but Mogoditshane┬á Police seem to┬á think otherwise┬á so my intention now is to┬á write to the Commissioner of Police┬á on the issue”, he said.
Asked to comment on the issue Mogoditshane Police station Commander Senior Superintendent Nkwebi Chilisa defended his officers’ decision to charge the couple with common nuisance.
Nkwebi told Sunday Standard that the decision to charge the pair with common nuisance was reached after a thorough investigation of the matter.┬á “We stand by our decision to charge them with common nuisance”, he declared.
The couple recently made headlines in a local paper which reported how the MP and his wife had allegedly   engaged in high speed cars chase and shouted at each other in public.
