The Office of the President and the Immigration Department have concealed the reasons behind the recent deportation of an Indian man who is a relation to Satar Dada.
Dada is a motor magnate with close ties to the ruling party of which he is the National Treasurer.
Osman Mohammed who is Dada’s son- in- law was deported recently apparently after being busted for illegal trade dealings.
Satar Dada last week confirmed the deportation but would not divulge details saying he had just arrived from outside the country.
The Botswana Police Services has failed to respond to questions around the nature of such illegal trade, when it was incepted and when and so did the Immigration Department.
The President can deport any foreigner without giving reasons.
Former President Festus Mogae has claimed that over 2000 foreign professionals have been deported from Botswana.
During an interview with CNBC late last month Mogae labelled President Ian Khama’s government as dictatorial.
