Orapa United are one leg in to qualify for the prestigious Mascom Top 8 tournament after their 2-0 rout of Township Rollers on Friday in Francistown in the first leg.
Goals from each half by Omaatla Kebatho and Tendai Nyumasi were enough to seal the win for the mining town team.
Last weekend in a Premier League match encounter between the two ended in Popa thrashing the Ostriches 4 ÔÇô 1 in a flowing match that many had thought would be won by a narrow margin looking at the quality of players from both sides. Orapa last year beat Rollers 3ÔÇô1 in the Mascom Top 8 final.
If Orapa qualify for the finals it will be a good motivation for them to defend the cup and make it two in a row.
Madinda Ndlovu will be looking for his second Mascom Top 8 championship. The win by Orapa has silenced the doubting supporters who would also want Madinda back at Rollers.
Orapa last season made history by qualifying and winning the cup in their debut.
On the weekend of February 10, Orapa United will host Mbabane Swallows from Swaziland at Francistown Stadium in a CAF Confederations Cup game.
