Parliament welcomes Rammidi as BNF MP

After much public uncertainty over his political home, independent Member of Parliament Kentse Rammidi has officially joined the opposition ranks.

He was unveiled on Friday in parliament as a Botswana National Front MP.

A former Botswana Democratic Party MP who served in the ruling party in various capacities, the latest as the secretary general, Rammidi has for months kept political spectators guessing.

Now Botswana National Front and Botswana Movement for Democracy have six MPs a piece. Botswana Congress Party has five.

Rammidi’s official defection to the opposition comes in the wake of the same move by Moremi Tawana of Maun West who recently joined BMD.

For now the only independent candidate remains Guma Moyo who quit the BDP to join the BMD only to subsequently resign and become an independent.
