Botswana Police Service has opened an inquiry into the death of South African Wilson Ncube who was killed during a shoot out with security agents last month.
Acting Botswana Police Service Public Relations officer Senior Superintendent Dipheko Motube told Sunday Standard that:“I can confirm that we have opened an inquiry into the incident as is usual procedure .” Motube, declined to answer accusations that it is peculiar that none of security agents are hurt in all the so called shoot outs with the police in the country.
Recently there has of late been a spike in violent crimes such as armed robberies attracting the attention of the Minister of Justice, Defence and Security Dikgakgamatso Seretse.
His office last week issued a press release expressing concern at the rate of violent crimes in urban centers such as Gaborone, surrounding areas and major villages. The release also assured the nation that security agents were working on the issue and asked for public assistance in fighting the scourge.
