Member of Parliament for Ngwaketsi West, Mephato Reatile, formerly with the Botswana National Front (BNF) has joined the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).
Reatile resigned from the BNF earlier this year to become an Independent MP following a short stint as a member of the party’s central committee.
As an Independent legislator he was heavily courted by both the ruling BDP and the opposition Botswana Congress Party (BCP). Although he had earlier declared that he would no longer be standing for political office, Reatile is expected to contest the BDP primaries.
On a number of occasions, Reatile was spotted with BDP chairman Daniel Kwelagobe and on other occasions with the BCP leader Dumelang Saleshando.
At the time of going to press, efforts to question Reatile about what has attracted him to the BDP proved futile as his mobile phone rang unanswered.
