Barclays Bank of Botswana has officially announced that after satisfying regulatory requirements and due diligence, Reinette Van Der Merwe has formally been appointed Managing Director of the bank in Botswana.
Taking over from Aupa Monyatsi who has been interim MD, Reinette’s appointment is effective 18st November 2013 when she will officially take over at the helm of the bank.
Reinette brings with her a wealth of experience from across the banking industry. Prior to this appointment, Reinette was the Chief Internal Audit Executive, Barclays Africa. Her appointment is expected to harness her extensive risk management skills as well as her industry experience gained over 20 years in the banking sector.
She will be a member of the Barclays Africa Regional Management Executive Committee and will report to Kennedy Bungane, Chief Executive of Barclays Africa Regional Management.
Making this announcement, Barclays Head of Marketing and Communication Rachael Mushaike thanked Aupa Monyatsi for the leadership he provided as interim MD since January 2012, through which he capably led the bank through a number of positive developments.
“Once he has handed over to Reinette, Aupa will be moving to Johannesburg as Regional Director, Customer Network in Retail Banking. We wish both Reinette and Aupa every success in their new roles.” said Mushaike.
