Sheillah Molelekwa arrives in Vegas for Miss Universe

Miss Universe Botswana, Sheillah Molelekwa, arrived in the USA to compete in the 61st edition of the World’s most prestigious event, the Miss Universe 2012. According to a press release from Mos Syde Worldwide Entertainment Group, the trip was made possible by the Ministry of Youth, Sports & Culture, and Universal Builders.

Sheillah beat 11 other local beauty queens at a glamorous event held at the GICC on Sunday October 14 2012, to claim the spot as the ultimate representative of Botswana in the international Miss Universe.

As Botswana’s brand ambassador, the 19-year old Botho College student joins other beautiful women from 88 other countries to compete for the Miss Universe crown. In total, 89 women will be competing in the world’s most elegant, glamorous and prestigious beauty pageant on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The reigning Miss Universe, Leila Lopes, who hails from neighboring Angola, will crown the most beautiful and ambitious of them all on Thursday November 20.

This year’s Miss Universe Pageant was originally set to take place in the Dominican Republic but was moved at the last minute to Las Vegas after the Caribbean country failed to raise sufficient funding for the pageant’s overhead costs, travel and hotel accommodation. Las Vegas, which plays hosts to Miss USA and Miss America, stepped in to solve the situation.

Botswana aims to win the Miss Universe title for the second time. Mpule Kwelagobe made history in 1999 by becoming the first black African woman to win Miss Universe when Botswana first entered the competition.

More than one billion people across world are expected to watch the Miss Universe showdown live on TV. Meanwhile, online voting is ongoing and Batswana are encouraged to log onto www.missuniverse.com to VOTE for BOTSWANA (Sheillah Molelekwa). The 2012 Miss Universe finalist who gets the most votes will automatically make the Top 16.

It is believed that if Sheillah Molelekwa makes the Top 16, she will beat her rivals with ease as her voice exudes intelligence and confidence. However, Batswana can make this possible by voting for their own country.

The Miss Universe Organization, a Donald J. Trump and NBC Universal partnership, operates the Miss Universe pageant while the Miss Universe Botswana pageant is operated by Mos Syde Worldwide Entertainment Group in partnership with all the relevant stakeholders.
