Stanbic Bank rolls out graduate trainee programme

In a move aimed at creating a learning culture and to develop a pool of talent within the business, Stanbic Bank Botswana is yet again rolling out the Graduate Trainee Programme this year.

The programme is part of the Standard Bank Group’s agenda to develop and retain talent in the markets it operates in.

The Learning and Development Consultant at Stanbic Bank, Sethunya Mosweu, said the programme is designed to enhance skills and build on academic knowledge to give depth to the talent and proficiency of experiences required to become one of our future leaders.

“By tapping onto university graduates and rolling out competitive and hands on graduate training programme, we are hoping to develop the skills and knowledge young professionals need to shape their career and life. What we look for is dynamic young go getters who think without boundaries, have total self-belief and share our ambition to keep Stanbic Bank a step ahead of the game.”

Under the programme, selected participants are geared towards banking systems competence at all levels.

It offers a unique opportunity to take on several roles in various departments within the bank. This programme spans 12 months and introduces participants to the entire world of banking within its own stream.

At the end of the programme, participants are expected to have an all round understanding of the bank operation.

“I had my expectations about the corporate world but I have come to realise that work is another thing,” said Wabo Moswate, who is just about to complete the programme as a fresh graduate. “This programme has taught me what real banking is all about. I am still living the programme and because it is so relevant it is undisputable.”

Keneilwe Ntsatsi, who has been in the programme and now an Advertising Officer said: “Your university degree only provides working knowledge or a foundation for a career. This program has taught me a lot about what real banking is all about. It was exciting, challenging and, above all, demanding because it is hands on.”

The Stanbic Bank Botswana Graduate Programme has been producing high quality graduates, who have filled critical vacancies in the business.
