Stegling wants to free electorate from ‘tourists’

African Methodist’s Reverend Ben Stegling, who is running under the Botswana Congress Party ticket in the coming elections, says that his mission is to free Manyana/ Moshupa electorates from the leadership of ‘tourists’ who have been representing them all along.

“The residents of Moshupa and surrounding areas have for the better part after independence been represented by tourists mainly from Gaborone such as the current Member of Parliament Mokgweetsi Masisi and the one before him Maitlhoko Mooka who did not know the issues affecting people’s lives because they resided in Gaborone coming only as tourists,” said Stegling.

The only MP who resided in Moshupa and could understand the issues better, he said was Mokgweetsi’s father the late Setlhomo Masisi.

He says that he thinks he is the best candidate as he knows about the issues electorates are facing in the constituency such as lack of proper roads, lack of water, electricity and a hospital which electorates have long asked for but in vain.

If elected to Parliament he said he will be able to push for developments in the constituency in a more informed way as he resides amongst the electorates and not as a “tourist” like the constituency’s current MP who only visits the constituency when canvassing for votes or to wedding and funerals.
