Thanks but no thanks to the Chinese ambassador’s Kool-Aid 

Like his predecessors in recent times, it seems as if the Chinese ambassador is somewhat obliged to go on a charm offensive to pass himself off as a friend of Botswana. And of course, there is nothing wrong with friendship with China or any country for that matter. After all, Botswana cannot afford to isolate itself from the rest of the world but always needs friends. However, the type of friendship we have with countries matters a lot. You look back with a great deal of satisfaction at the historic relationship that we have with the United States of America, Great Britain, Europe and Japan. After all, we judge a tree by the fruit it bears.
