The 61st Public Accountants Committee (PAC) examination of the books of accounts has started and it’s actually drawing to a close. The Committee has a backlog and it is mainly due to a tradition that on election year the PAC doesn’t sit and that the PAC was also affected by the dissolution of Committees unceremoniously during the 12th Parliament. Covid-19 also played a role in these delays. The PAC is the most famous of Parliamentary Committees. It enjoys public support and respect and typically has annual examinations, unless it has to deal with a special matter or a performance report placed before it.
