Our public education is in the doldrums, and that is a matter of public concern. The amount of money the taxpayer continues to sink into the public school system in exchange for appalling outcomes should be a priority for the powers that be. We fare poorly in comparison to other upper middle-income economies as far as educational outcomes are concerned.
