If 25-year history repeats itself on October 30, a voter constituency that has been identified by a French thank tank as the sturdiest pillar of support for the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) could help the party get re-elected.
The World Top Incomes Database (WTID) project at the Paris School of Economics in France is conducting ongoing research that analyses how voters’ political preferences are influenced by socio-economic characteristics. Botswana is one of the 50 countries that the project has been studying over the years and produced groundbreaking research on. WTID collaborated with 20 fellow researchers from around the world and have now published (in French) work that draws on a unique set of surveys conducted for the period between 1948 and 2020 in 50 countries on five continents.
