At a time when the cost of living crisis has had an impact on tourism industry, a number of players in the sector are retreating this week to the tourism hot spot of Maun for the annual self-retrospection open season conference.
The conference is led by the Hospitality and Tourism Association of Botswana (HATAB) and its set to be officiated by the Vice President Slumber Tsogwane under the theme, “Tourism: An engine that fosters sustainable growth”.
Amongst the key critical issues that will be debated on includes the ongoing ban on importation of certain horticultural products by the government.
The 2023 HATAB conference also comes at a time when there are a number of developments in the sector, including legislative reforms aimed at empowering citizens to participate and shape the future of Botswana tourism.
