Two police officers receive medals for outstanding service

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Thebeyame Tsimako, recently awarded medals and certificates to two police officers in recognition of their commendable service with the African Union Mission in the Sudan.

The officers, namely Assistant Commissioner Kgosietsile Bosilong and Superintendent Lucas Thabo Mabina, who served as peacekeepers in Darfur from June 2007 to March 2009, are stationed at the Special Support Group.

While in the Sudan, the officers ensured that human rights, as enshrined in the United Nations Human Rights Charter, were not violated. They also monitored incidents of gender-based violence and advised the African Union when such issues were observed.

When presenting the medals and certificates, the Commissioner applauded the officers for their immense contribution in keeping peace and order in the Sudan.
