The pivotal point in the current Sudan conflict remains to be marked by the independence of South Sudan and that is when Sudan began a long and winding transition. The year was 2011 when Juba was declared the capital of South Sudan and the inauguration of a new president for the country.
At the time Al-Bashir was at the helm of power and he was seemingly very powerful and untouchable. He thought he had manipulated the political system in order to monopolize power to himself and all things were looking good and going in the direction he desired until he was toppled by the military after excessive and robust protesting from the population.
