The one man who likes using the phrase; “Drunk on power” is none other but former President Ian Khama. When he speaks about his successor, he will not finish a paragraph before mentioning that “Masisi is drunk on power.” We are still to hear a barrage of this from my former commander from BDF, but it is too late for him to fix anything.
When we talk of power in this country, Khama is found at the apex of all examples. He has been the army chief and during his days at BDF he used to brag about the fact that the president would never reject any one of his advises especially on issues of security.
Khama was so powerful that at one point when President Masire held a different view point regarding issues of soldiers, Khama suggested to him that Masire was literally suggesting that the fences around our camps should be pulled down to allow soldiers freedom like anybody else.
