
Botswana is unlikely to meet its malaria reduction target, a World Health Organisation report shows, citing difficulties with surveillance systems. The 2024 World Malaria Report notes that Botswana recorded a 40% increase in malaria case incidence in 2023 and is not on track to meet the health agency’s Global Technical Strategy (GTS) target of a 75 per cent reduction in malaria incidence by 2025.
