Wildlife Animal Protection Forum South Africa (WAPFSA), a vocal critic of trophy hunting is rallying president Duma Boko to mount aggressive opposition against the trade and re-impose the ban on elephant hunting. This plea comes five years after the moratorium on elephant hunting was lifted in 2019 by Dr. Mokgweetsi Masisi, the former president and Boko’s predecessor, in response to escalating human-elephant conflict.
