Member of Parliament for Mahalapye East, Yandani Boko, Botswana Patriotic Front President Biggie Butale and former Gaborone Mayor Nelson Ramaotwana are among more than 50 lawyers whose practicing certificates have not been renewed.
The Law Society of Botswana issued a public notice Friday, stating in part: “ The Annual General Meeting (AGM) has Resolved that names of Legal Practitioners who do not hold Practicing Certificates in each year and are therefore not entitled to practice, be published at the Opening of the Legal Year. The AGM Resolution relates to publication and does not seek to extend or give a waiver to the provision of the LPA that practicing certificates expire on the 31st December of each year.”
