It was easy for president Mokgweetsi Masisi to make big electoral promises in 2019.
Everything was in his favour.
He was an unknown political quantity. Everyone took him at his word.
And he stood against what man the people did not want at the time – Ian Khama.
For the nation it was Masisi or nothing.
Those who were seen consorting wit Khama were punished mercilessly – such as was the UDC which saw itself without the backing of traditional Botswana National Front supporters who turned their backs on their party to vote for Masisi.
The result was a landslide for Masisi.
