27 years of answering Botswana’s call – Part 1

The interview started with a simple hug.

None of the usual firm handshakes or bro-ish hug with a pat on the back.

The blue-chip telco company CEO embracing me is not playing the dude-code game, a salutatory sign of the times that the old boys club is on slippery ground.

It’s six years since Dzene Makhwade-Seboni occupied the Mascom Wireless Botswana corner office, quite a thunderbolt in an industry that is an embarrassing laggard in the worldwide trend toward gender diversity.
