AFDB sees gains in Veges Import ban

The African Development Bank (AfDB) has pointed to significant gains in Botswana’s controversial ban on the importation of fresh fruits and vegetables.

In its assessment of its project known as the ‘Private Sector Development Strategy and Programme’ last week, the African Development Bank says the policy has contributed to stronger local production, reduced waste, and improved SME competitiveness, according to a project performance report.
