An open letter to Orapa House 

Dear the unoccupied gem 

You have stood silent for decades, nestled in prime space, once humming with activity but now part of Botswana’s lost heritage. For so many years, you have watched as the city grows around you, pondering your next chapter. Have you ever stopped to consider how vital your role could be in uplifting our nation’s youth? They are full of ideas and energy, yet they face the highest unemployment rates and own less wealth than any prior generation. It’s no secret that Botswana’s population is getting younger, and more than half of our citizens are under 25 years old—an impressive demographic, but one that struggles to find meaningful employment or a path to economic independence.
