Another murder convict executed

The government confirmed the hanging of Oreleditse Modise Thokamolelo, a 33-year-old convicted murderer on Monday morning. He was sentenced to death in April.

Senior Supritendent, Wamorena Ramolefhe, of the Botswana Prisons Services, said that the execution was carried out after the convict lost his appeal at the Court of Appeal in April 2013.

Thokamolelo, from Chiya Cattle post in the Letlhakeng Sub District, was convicted for killing six people in 20l0.

He was convicted and senteced to death for killing Tiragalo Thaga, Garemoitatole Garebone, London Thokamolelo, China London Oreemetse Lepadile and Kemodiretse Lepadile at Phaephe cattle post on the 27th January 2008.

Ramolefhe was of the view that just like everybody after being denied another chance for life by the Court of Appeal, the convict had the last chance to approach the President for clemency.

He could not deny nor confirm that Tlhokamolelo went through the process but stated that Thokamolelo was buried at Prisons cementary in Gaborone.
