Botswana is among five countries in the world that recorded the highest number of people who reported being feeling lonely.
The Global State of Social Connections report, which launched on November 1, 2023, revealed that 50% of Batswana reported being lonely against a global average of 24%.
This places Botswana in the same level as Afghanistan and better than only three countries Lesotho where 58% of the population reported being lonely, Philippines at 57% and Uganda at 53%.
