BDP formerly expels Moyo and Mangole

The Botswana Democratic Party has formerly expelled Tati East Member Samson Guma and Gilbert Mangole of Kgatleng West.

The duo was expelled in absentia after failing to attend a disciplinary hearing over the Weekend.
The party’s disciplinary committee states that it found both Moyo and Mangole guilty as charged because the duo had failed to appear before the party’s disciplinary committee to answer their charges.

The MPs were facing allegations of defying a Central Committee resolution that they should not attend a factional meeting in Mogoditshane. The two were further charged with inciting party members to turn against the party leadership.

“Having failed to respond to the allegations in terms of Article 16.6 of the Party Disciplinary Rules and Regulations, both Mr. Guma Moyo and Mr. Mangole are deemed to have admitted all allegations and charges laid against them. Further the duo refused to appear before the Disciplinary Committee, an act which constitutes indiscipline and contempt on their part. As a result both Mr. Guma Moyo and Mr. Mangole have been expelled from the Botswana Democratic Party with immediate effect,”reads a statement from the party’s Public Relations Manager Segaetsho Garekwe.

Segaetsho also happens to be prosecuting the complaints on behalf of the party.
