The 2017 Masa Fashion Show campaign is curated around the theme: ‘Working Together to Build Botswana’s Creative Industry.’ The Hotel’s initiative will this year see 12 seasoned fashion designers from the Botswana industry showcase their collections on the runway, alongside 12 budding fashion entrepreneurs. The extraordinary line-up comes off the back of the Hotel’s acclaimed ‘MSH Fashion Mentorship Program.’ The 2017 Masa Fashion Show and mentorship campaign blend is a first of its kind in Botswana.
As part of this campaign, the Hotel has also been rallying full speed ahead with their Mentorship Talkshop Series, engaging leaders from various industries including finance, media, manufacturing and more. The aim of the series is to equip mentees of the MSH Fashion Mentorship Program with practical insights on business management and entrepreneurship from figures who are directly and indirectly stakeholders of the creative industry. Two talkshops have been successfully rolled out thus far. The finale installment is slated for October 2017 and will culminate in the monumental Masa Fashion Show.
In anticipation of the annual Masa Fashion Show, which will be held on 21st October 2017, Masa Square Hotel launched a game-changing initiative: the MSH Fashion Mentorship Program. The program, launched on Thursday 23 February, 2017, at Masa Square Hotel, is the first of its kind in Botswana, and certainly the first to be hosted by a hotel, will see 12 budding fashion designers mentored by 12 more seasoned designers from the local industry. This comes following 4 consecutive years of the Masa Fashion Show held to great acclaim, and with an increasingly strong attendance and revere from Batswana.
The program will run from March 1st under the theme of ‘Working Together to Build Botswana’s Creative Industry.’ 12 seasoned fashion designers from the Botswana industry will mentor the program’s budding designers. Collections developed during the program will be officially showcased at the Masa Fashion Show slated for October 2017.
For the next 7 months leading up to the final show in October, the mentees will be tasked with designing an exclusive collection for the Masa Fashion Show. As part of the Show, the hotel will also host a series of MSH Fashion Talk Shops over the course of the year to share valuable business insights from renowned local and international names. The speakers will discuss their success stories, especially as African entrepreneurs and professionals. The purpose is to provide inspiration and key business tips from a variety of speakers who are directly and indirectly stakeholders of the creative industry.
