BONELA backs same-sex couple in landmark marriage case

The Botswana Network on Ethics, Law and HIV/AIDS (BONELA) has publicly declared its support for a same-sex couple challenging the constitutionality of the country’s Marriage Act. The couple appeared before the High Court last week seeking the legal right to marry.

Accoding to BONELA, at the heart of the case is a fundamental constitutional question: can two adults committed to one another in love and dignity be denied equal recognition under the law solely because they are of the same sex?
