The Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) will be hosting a Wellness and Family Fun day for its employees in Selibe Phikwe on Saturday 15th October 2011 with the theme: “Wellness begins with me and my family!” The event will be held at Selibe Phikwe Stadium.
The objectives of the event are:
To increase health awareness by providing health screenings, activities, demonstrations and information to employees and their families in fun and creative ways.
To motivate employees and their families to have fun while making positive lifestyle changes.
To encourage and teach self-care practices.
To avail opportunities for staff and to establish linkages with external service providers.
For the Corporation to extend goodwill to our families who support us and contribute to our being productive at work. 
Participation at this event will be open to Corporation employees’ families as the objectives and the theme imply.
Activities on the day
Games
The event will kick-start with a walk from the stadium into town and back. Games played during the day will include football (5-Aside), volleyball, aerobics and tug of war. Egg & spoon, sack race, and relay. There will be jumping castles for the kids to keep them busy.
There will be various medical tests on the day which will include among others Blood Pressure, BMI, Glucose levels, HIV and Cholesterol. Other services that will be provided by Selibe Phikwe Hospital and these will entail (Dental care services, eye care services, health related information from the hospital psychological clinic resource centre and the diabetes clinic services.
The medical aids and the financial advisors will also be given an opportunity to share information that will be helpful to employees.
The guest speaker for the event will be BCL Wellness Manager, Mr Emmanuel Siamisang.
