Botswana Musicians Union (BOMU) award winner Tebogo Motsie aka Eureka the Coverboy is set to release his sophomore album Stageworks in early August. Eureka’s award winning album Raditaola has cemented him as part of Botswana’s hip hop royalty.
According to Eureka, Stageworks will be a twelve track album that will be dominantly sang in English. The album will feature the likes of Nopshi and Element, singers who feature in DJ Lemonka’s record label.
The first single of the album, Machonisa, has already been released and is now getting regular airplay in local radio stations.
As a way of promoting the new album, Eureka is embarking on a series of shows, aptly named the Backstage Events. The concept behind Backstage Events is to take people through the stages involved in preparing for a stage performance; from makeup, dress rehearsal to curtain raising, and these events will be themed according to what happens backstage. Motsie said the events have since kick started with the Makeup Party that took place at Caf├® Khwest last Saturday.
Eureka said they have since introduced Backstage Events as a new way of having fun, and they want the youth to embrace it.
He said the events are intended to encourage the youth to have fun without partying all-night or engaging in drinking, sex or drug abuse.
Ontiretse Tshiamiso, the event coordinator, explained that the intension is to give back to Eureka’s fans, adding that prizes and hampers will be given away at some of the events.
During the previous backstage makeup party, one lucky fan walked away with P500.00 and a makeup hamper.
Motsie revealed that the Backstage Events will be held country-wide in all the major towns like Gaborone, Maun, Lobatse, Francistown and Kanye. He said they have engaged these events as a marketing tool for the upcoming Stageworks album. He said subsequent to the Makeup Party will be the Mirror Mirror on the Wall, slated for 30th April at Thato’s Club in Palapye. There will also be the Wardrobe Party at Lizard Entertainment on May 7th in Francistown.
“Watch out for a creative, quality and technical album that will satisfy your passion for Hip hop” said Motsie.
