The festive season is a time to be jolly, to lose that mean face and attitude just once in a year. That jolliness can be expressed in so many ways, including the type and colour of clothes worn. The colours tend to be brighter and the accessories a bit big and bold.
Stylist Tsholo Dikobe says that just like proverbs are to the English language, accessories are fashion items which can be silent or loud and are a small extension of self expression.
She says that accessories give an outfit that bit of edge and, in most cases, they are used to complement a certain look.
Dikobe states that they jazz up any simple outfit and make a person wearing them stand out from the crowd.
Accessories do serve many purposes and they can be used to convey a feeling, whether real or imagined.
Dikobe explains this and states that, for example, if one is feeling emotional, he or she might wear chunky, black dark jewelry, pendants or earrings. On the other hand, if an individual is happy, he/she might rock shiny bright accessories, however big or small, to push that spark they might be feeling.
Dikobe points out that the best accessories for this festive season are necklaces, pendants, chokers, bracelets and earrings which have a glow about them.
She says that they should be made from alloy, gold, and silver and should be nickel and lead free. The fashionista says that the accessories could have rhinestones to imitate the snow flake. She adds that hats and sun glasses are also among those accessories and they serve to protect the skin and eyes from the scorching sun. The mix is not complete with headbands and bags such as sling and or zany bags which are a must have.
As for the festive colours Dikobe advises on the reds, greens, golds and whites which she says have historical and religious reasons. She says that green is best for Christmas because it represents what we see in nature, red is for the love that surrounds us and the content hearts whereas the gold is a representation of the richness of eternal life.
According to the fashion guru, these colours on the fashion side are used because they do not absorb much heat and on top of that they are bright colours that add an instant glow to someone’s look.
The young and vibrant stylist says that her job entails bringing out one’s whole being, which means working from the inside to the outside. She says that she has to find somebody’s comfort hence she needs to have a basic on colour and accessories in general. So it’s wise to take up the stylist advice on accessories and colour this festive and have fun.
