Five perish, several critically injured in Metsimotlhabe accident

Five people were killed in a tragic accident in which three vehicles collided along the Kopong/Metsimotlhabe road – just by Matseta Village turn off on Sunday evening.

In an interview with the Telegraph, Mogoditshane Acting Police Station Commander, Assistant Superintendent George Mabotenyane, confirmed that five had died, eight admitted at Lenmed Health Bokamoso Private Hospital. Amongst them are two who were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.

Mabotenyane explained that there were 15 passengers travelling by  Combi, two in a Toyota Hilux and two in an Audi.

He said the drivers of the Combi and Toyota Hilux were among the five people who were certified died upon arrival at the Hospital, adding that the driver of the Audi Car had survived with preliminary investigations showing that he is not in a bad condition.

‘’Amongst those who died are four men and a woman but as we speak we are not in a position to reveal their names as we are still bound to consult┬átheir respective parents,” said Mabotenyane.
He further revealed that the rest of the people involved in the accident sustained minor injuries.

“What I can say for now is just to advise that drivers should by all means exercise extra caution particularly when travelling with large number of people but not only that but to always be careful, especially during the night to avoid unfortunate incidents of loss of life or injuries,” said Mabotenyane.

Police investigations of the horrific accident are still ongoing.
