Friday 27th March will see fashion fanatics treated to a fashion show with a difference, courtesy of the Second annual Gorgeous Green Fashion Show at News Cafe, hosted by Somarelang Tikologo, an Environment watch NGO based in Gaborone in its continued bid to lobby for the adoption of environmentally friendly approach to reduce, re-use and recycle waste materials.
The Show is sponsored by Global Consults, Air Botswana, Cresta Mowana, News Caf├® Redds with Barclays Bank Botswana being the main sponsor after having forked out P30 000.
The show features student designers from Limkokwing University and Gaborone Technical College and will see professional models walk the ramp, dressed in different types of recycled materials, from plastic bags to old newspapers, instead of your usual silk cotton or fur. Though the designers or models won’t receive any monetary incentive, certificates of Recognition will be presented to them.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, Somarelang Tikologo’s Public Relations Manager, Sekwaya Pikinini, said the show has grown in leaps since the first show, which received a sponsorship of just over P15 000 from BP and BPOMAS last year.
Tickets go for P150 and buying one automatically enters one to win 2 return tickets, and a double room for two nights at Mowana Safari Lodge.
