Kanye Business Expo goes into second year running

The second Kanye Youth Business Expo (KYBE); an annual event aimed at signifying Kanye as an alternative investment destination has been slotted for the 4th and 5th of May at Lodubeng Village Park.

KYBE Chairperson Moutlakgola Masire said in an interview that the event’s objectives include encouragement of entrepreneurship spirit and to underscore the value of the spirit into different stakeholders including the government, community and the youth; provide tools and resources for young entrepreneurs; uplift the Kanye business profile; inclusion of youth in future development agenda through consultation and discussions as well as drive the industrialization.

A collaborative effort between the Masire Empire and Kanye Youth Business Expo (KYBO), the two-day event offers a vast array of opportunities to launch or grow one’s business by providing youth business with resources, exhibitors, business- critical conferences, product demos and a fun environment to network with hundreds of local and national business owners and stakeholders.

“The first expo was held last year May and it was a success as the Honorable Minister Nonofo Molefi graced it. Other invitees who gave speeches were Mr. Thapelo Tsheole, CEO of Botswana Stock Exchange,   Ms Regina Sikalesele- Vaka, Bona life CEO, Mr Umesh Loona, Apex CEO, Ogona Mothoagae, Adapt IT Botswana MD,Mr Tlhofaetsi, Founder and MD of Moumaine Media. We had over 30 exhibitors from across the country; from both the government and the private sector,” said Masire.

This year, the KYDE Vice Chair, Bogolo Tlhofaetso chipped in, they are expecting the new youthful Minister of   Investment, Trade and Industry, Bogolo Kenewendo to grace the event. On the 4th there will be exhibitions and the youth and other entrepreneurs will be selling their products.

On the 5th there will be a high profile, highly targeted business to business conference bringing together aspiring and youth owned business and business leaders from different ages to make key industry contacts, learn about industry trends and gain competitor insights.

“Visibility is critical to the growth of business and exhibition is a powerful and cost effective way to do that and gain exposure, develop leads for selling your products, gain new business from potential hundreds of attendees and to seek out potential alliances and referral resources,” said Tlhofaetso.

He said the conference will discuss to sectors of the economy; namely energy and the creative arts. Panelists for the energy sector he said will be Rebaone Seema of Seema Tankers, Tumelo Sealetsa, CEO of Boswa Energy, who also hails from Kanye as well as Kagiso Mmusi of Kalahari Energy. The panel will discuss trends and opportunities in the energy sector.

In the Creative Arts sector panelists will be a still to be named representative of the Ministry of Youth from Kanye office and Mmakgosi Tau an Artist. Others include Vee Mampeezy from Black money makers and Lerato MOtshwarakgole, and Actor.

The duo is optimistic that the event has impact on the society as evidenced by participation by famous media personality Neo Skillo Aabobe who presents agric show in Gabz FM.
