There was a “we have been here before” brow furrowing moment of déjà vu last week, when former President Lt Gen Ian Khama’s personal opinion upstaged the new Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) government’s official diplomatic line.
In the same week that Speaker of the National Assembly, Dithapelo Keorapetse hosted a delegation from the Russian Embassy during which he pledged support for Vladimir Putin’s administration, Khama was hosted by the Embassy of Ukraine in Gaborone, where he vilified the Russia President as a war criminal.
