Following the overwhelming success of MAQapella South Africa, MAQ is launching MAQapella Botswana in Association with Pick n Pay. MAQapella is an acapella talent search competition for a new MAQ song that features amateur singers who are not registered with any record companies. The competition invites all amateur singers who are Botswana citizens and are over 18 years old, to perform their original ‘MAQ /Pick n Pay’ song for a panel of star judges. “So whether you’re a group or an individual, MAQ MAQ your way to stardom and be famous,” reads a statement from the company.
The company has employed the services of local celebrities Shona Ferguson, Vee Mampeezy and Tshepo Ntshole to preside over the competition. Ferguson is one of South Africa’s finest television and film industry doyens. Vee needs no introduction, having dominated the local music industry for the past 15 years while Ntshole’s is one of the most recognisable voices on local radio. The judges will decide which of the amateur Acapella singers shall go through to the finals.
Shona was recently a judge in MAQamovie, a search for five amateur actors to star in a new South African movie. “It is with immense excitement that I return to my home country Botswana to be a judge in the sensational MAQapella song contest. I can’t wait to experience and discover the exceptional talent,” Ferguson was quoted as saying. Jacqueline Jacobs, Sales and Marketing Director of MAQ, says they are extremely excited about MAQapella Botswana. “We are eager to unearth all the exceptional talent that this country has to offer. We are looking for a new, original song for MAQ Washing Powder and what better way to do this than through a national song contest that showcases the best amateur acapella singers in Botswana.┬áMAQ is here to brighten up your day and we invite all amateur acapella singers to showcase their best original MAQ song and brighten our day.”
