Masisi administration pressed ahead with luxury fleet amid struggling economy

Parliament has heard how the former President Mokgweetsi Masisi administration pressed ahead with a multi-million pula luxury vehicle procurement even as government openly admitted it was broke. 

Diamond revenues had tanked, and suppliers went unpaid for months. Masisi’s government was preaching austerity to Batswana while signing off eye-watering expenditure.

Leader of Opposition Dumelang Saleshando had demanded full disclosure on when the President and Vice President’s new vehicles were ordered, whether they were budgeted for, how much they cost, when they arrived, and whether government ever considered cancelling the purchase in light of the dire economic conditions.
