The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dorcus Makgato-Malesu, is scheduled to officially launch BizKid Botswana on the 15th of October at the University of Botswana (UB) auditorium.
BizKid Botswana, a 100 percent citizen-owned company, comprising of professionals with deep insight on entrepreneurship, has been setup to cultivate a culture of entrepreneurship amongst locals from a youthful stage.
After a successful seminar for entrepreneurs on the 30th of July at the Francistown Civic Centre, BizKid will finally launch in Gaborone.
According to BizKid Marketing Executive, Laone Mercy Ramatokwane, the Francistown seminar exceeded their expectations as they had in attendance entrepreneurs from as far as Shakawe.
She also observed that most of the attendees were people who were already employed but would want to become entrepreneurs in the aftermath of the recent civil service strike. Many people now want to open their own businesses and diversify their sources of income.
BizKid officials say they learnt from the Francistown seminar that many people had for a long time bottled up their business ideas either out of lack of confidence and motivation. This is what BizKid intends to cultivate from people hence their theme for the upcoming launch: Be Challenged, Be Charged and Be Changed.
The Gaborone launch will be in the form of a business exposition where people will be shown business opportunities that exist across all business sectors in the country. Minister Makgato-Malesu will also launch the BizKid Kids program, which is designed to teach and instill the basics of entrepreneurship to kids as young as 9 years of age all the way up to adulthood.
Another keynote speaker billed for the launch is South Africa’s renowned grand master of memory, Kevin Horsley. He will make a presentation on ‘Unleashing the power of the mind’.
Horsley is said to possess a memory the size of an elephant. It is said he can memorize and recite the whole chapters in the Bible. Horsley is a professional speaker and he is scheduled to officially launch BizKid Bureau of Professional Speakers. This is another project run by BizKid Botswana and is aimed at grooming upcoming motivational speakers, masters of ceremonies and professional speakers.
Sharon Freeman from the USA will also give a presentation. She is involved in entrepreneurship development and will be attending courtesy of the US Embassy. Other speakers include the Director of EDD, Pauline Monare and Moshe Seloko, who has vast experience in entrepreneurial development in Botswana having successfully mentored many entrepreneurs across the country.
