Molose poised for Miss Grand International

Living by the motto ‘self discipline is a bridge between goals and accomplishments’, 19-year-old Lillian Molose’s motto became reality when she was crowned Miss Grand Botswana.

Not only were her dreams finally coming true. Winning meant that she was on her way to make the country proud.

She said making the country proud and bringing the crown home has been her main focus and she hopes to do it at the Miss Grand International contest in September which will be held at Bangkok, Thailand from September 16 to October 8.

Molose said that growing up, she has always given her all to everything she has done, whether at school or home.

“I am a very disciplined individual who believes that everything is possible as long as one puts hard work in everything they do thus my motto has always been my guidance in everything I did,” she said.

Seeing people making a living out of modelling motivated a then young Molose to never give up on her dream but rather to work hard in perfecting her skills.

“I started participating in beauty pageants at a tender age,” she said.

“At first I lost most of them, but I started building myself confident and eventually I mastered the art and started appearing among the top three.”

Her big break was winning Miss Grand Botswana, she said.

“I was up against some stiff competition and I almost thought I would not make it but I gave all my trust to God and before I knew it I had made quite an impression on the audience and judges because each time I was on stage I was received with quite a loud applause and cheering,” she added.

Molose has been preparing herself to represent the country very well in Thailand. She said she has been practising each day and researching more about Botswana and Africa so that she wows the crowd at Thailand with her brilliant answers.

“I have also started eating healthier; I have been consulting other beauty queens who have gone on to compete on a national level so as to gain more skills and knowledge and so far it has been a good experience and I can confidently say I am going to bring good news home,” she said.

Molose is not only beautiful and attractive. She is also an intelligent girl who is currently pursuing a degree in Geology at the Botswana International University of Science and Technology.

“It is important as a beauty queen to be able to give intelligent answers,” she said.

“This is the only way that people can take you seriously. I make sure that I always perform best at school and all I am able to do through, God who strengthens me.”

Her biggest fans are her family, who have always been by her side ever since she showed interest in modelling.
“My parents are very supportive of me and they have always encouraged me to never give up, seeing their support makes me to even try harder to make them proud,” she said.

Upon her return, Molose said, she will be actively involved in helping better other youth. “I want to join hands with the government and available community groups to bring more change. As a beauty queen I will behave and communicate in a way that will motivate or be of great influence to younger Motswana and be an inspiration to other aspiring beauty queens out there,” she said.
