MultiChoice Botswana brings Btv closer to the people with the DStv App

For almost 30 years, MultiChoice Botswana has been committed to bringing the best in entertainment to Batswana through their various packages, wide variety of content for the entire family, and most importantly, through convenient platforms which have innovated with the times that we live in.

What has also been paramount to achieving the business’ mission has been ensuring that, through strategic and long-lasting partnerships, Batswana are also able to get a dose of local entertainment as easily as possible.

“As a business born and bred in Batswana, operated by a 100% citizen workforce, making a significant contribution to the country which we have called home for so long, it has always been a priority of ours to ensure our customers were able to access our national broadcaster conveniently,” says Lorato Mwape, MultiChoice Botswana MD. “Btv is not only a tremendous source of news that is relevant and critical to our people, but it is also a home ground of local content, which we hope to see grow as the channel continues to spread its wings through our platform. We are ecstatic that DStv customers will now finally be able to view Btv across our DStv app. This speaks to our motto, #ReMoteng, which represents our pledge to being fully entrenched in Botswana, and in what is important to Batswana.”

Btv, which is available on channel 289 on DStv and accessible to all active DStv customers, regardless of package, was previously only available through the use of a DStv decoder. As of 1 February 2022, customers are able to watch Btv on-the-go using the DStv app. The app is free to download and only requires an active DStv subscription and access to stable internet, in order for its users to enjoy Live TV across many DStv channels, including Btv.

This development comes as a result of MultiChoice Botswana and the Ministry of Presidential Affairs and Public Administration’s commitment to ensuring that Batswana are able to get the best and the most out of Btv through increasing its accessibility to all.

Partnership set new and very bold priorities and future cooperation model in growing Botswana creative sector “For us, what has always been vital is expanding the reach of BTV to the people of Botswana. Over the years we have made sure that we do this to the best of our ability by partnering with entities who are equally determined to keeping our nation informed and seeing local content grow,” commented Joel Thuto, Btv General Manager.

The DStv App is available to all DStv subscribers for download, at no cost, via Google Play Store and iOS. The channel offers Live TV on a customer’s corresponding DStv package as well as access to Catch Up titles.
