Murder victim buried as suspect remains on the run

Thamaga Police are investigating an incident in which a 29-year-old man killed and buried a woman in the bush.

Information reaching the Sunday Standard is that the man, who is a traditional doctor, was allegedly in love with the elder sister to the 25-year-old woman he allegedly murdered.

Thamaga Police Station Commander, Superintendent Balisi Ntamba told the Sunday Standard that the suspect was in a troubled relationship with the woman, whom he started dating after her husband passed away.

But the two, on various occasions, had some differences which had lead to the intervention of the police in an effort to resolve their issues, which they did and the two then agreed to stop their relationship.

Ntamba said since the man used to stay with his girlfriend, he agreed to collect his belongings the following day.

But that did not happen as expected, as the man stabbed the woman to death the very next day and then took the deceased and buried her in the bushes at his village in Manyana and disappeared.

“As I speak, the man is nowhere to be found, but we suspect he is hiding in the mountains,” said Nthamba. “Police investigations are still ongoing but as for now we don’t have any possible lead but we have embarked on an extensive search for the suspect.”

The police exhumed the body and had a post mortem performed.

The funeral was held yesterday (Saturday).
